Obiano, wife mark 30th wedding anniversary

GOV. Willie Obiano of Anambra has renewed his resolve to intervene in any form of disaster that may threaten lives of ndi Anambra.

 

“It is regrettable that erosion menace has eaten deep into some communities, displacing people from their ancestral homes,” Gov. said this when he attended a Holy Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic

Church, holy Iba Pope, Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Anambra State.

 

The holy mass was aimed at marking the 30th anniversary of his wedding and to ask God for more blessings in their lives and the state in general.

Obiano, who attended the Mass, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, said his government would always deploy experts to handle erosion challenges in Obosi.

 

He added that his administration had also attracted the World Bank to partner with the state for adequate results.

“We have also written to the federal government through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to assist the state in finding lasting solutions to environmental problems,” the governor stressed.

 

While urging the Christian faithful to be steadfast in God, Obiano emphasised that his administration had awarded contracts to construct several roads in the community, to end their sufferings and ensure their free movement in and around their areas.

 

The anniversary also marked the pastoral visit of the Archbishop and Metropolitan, Catholic Province of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke to the parish.

In a homily, Archbishop Okeke stressed the need to embrace righteousness and holiness as Christians.

 

Okeke, who urged Christians to shun placing premium on material things, but rather remember that one day, they would depart from this mother earth.

Gov. Obiano and his wife later inaugurated a chapel built for parishioners by their daughter, Dr Ogechi Obiano.
