Pope indicts sex abuse priests



CATHOLIC Pontiff, Pope Francis, yesterday, came down heavy on members of the clergy who were involved in sex abuse scandals that recently rocked the church in Ireland and other places around the globe.

Describing the victims’ predicament as an open wound, in an Angelus message at the Marian Shrine of Knock, Ireland, before over 45,000 people in audience, Francis assured the world that their case must be treated decisively to forestall recurrence in future.

“This open wound challenges us to be firm and decisive in the pursuit of truth and justice. I beg the Lord’s forgiveness for these sins and for the scandal and betrayal felt by so many others in God’s family.

I ask our Blessed Mother Mary to intercede for all the survivors and to confirm every member of our Christian family in the resolve never again to permit these situations to occur,” he said.
