Don’t panick over 2019 elections predictions – Egwu urges Nigerians

SENATOR representing Ebonyi North in the Senate, Sam Egwu, has urged Nigerians not to panic over  many predictions on 2019 general elections.

Addressing journalists in Abakaliki after picking nomination form for second tenure,  Dr Egwu, a two term Governor of Ebonyi State, called for true democracy and separation of powers in the country and warned against further onslaught against National Assembly.

“2019 will be a reality. In 2015, there was that prediction that it will not hold or there will be bloodshed. There was that speculation and eventually, it came and gone. God has been with Nigeria. We overcame. By the special grace of God, 2019 will also come and go and there won’t be any bloodshed.

“The onslaught on the National Assembly is not a good sign. We are practicing democracy and democracy entails that three arms of government must operate separately. Any attack on any arm of government is attack on democracy and we as members of parliament will not allow that to happen.

“These three arms of government should operate differently and that is the aim of the constitution. Anything contrary to that is not acceptable”, Egwu said.

Other National Assembly members that picked their nomination forms included Senator Obinna Ogba,  Sylvester Ogbaga, Chukwuma Nwazunku, Iduma Igariwey, among others
