Man commits suicide over denial of banana

THE squabble that brewed between a 20 years old prince Chigozie Gbughmobi and his immediate relations of Mmakwum Uulage Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State has resulted in Chigozie committing suicide inside his own room.

National Light gathered that the family had been brewed in issues following refusal to accord Chigozie his right even as he was allegedly denied a bunch of banana because he has not been contributing to the family upkeep.

Our source revealed that the incident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday was first noticed by his father Uche Gbughmobi who allegedly raised an alarm that attracted neighbours.

An eye witness account stated that earlier in that fateful morning, the deceased quarreled with some members of his immediate family for refusing to give him some banana brought from their compound.

“I saw him in a distress mood fuming in anger. He complained about his people denying him many things including the banana they cut from their compound because he was unemployed,” our source added.

“I urged him to be calm but he was still fuming and threatening evil, shortly I heard that he had taken his life”.
National Light further gathered that the late Unemployed youth had not been able to secure any visible means of livelihood since he finished his secondary school even as there was serious cause of taken his life. :We gathered that he had been quarreling with his relations who felt that he never wanted to be useful to himself.

Confirming the report, Anambra State Police image maker, Mohammed Haruna stated that one Uche Gbughmobi a father of the deceased reported how he found his son dead in his room.

He stated the victim was later taken to crown Hospital, Obosi where he was confirmed dead.
Mohammed further stated that the Police have continued with investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the ugly incident.
