FIRST Nnewi Political Summit has ended with a call to Nnewi people to come together in unity to identify their development objectives and pursue them in order to give Nnewi its rightful place in the state and nation’s polity.

The summit, which was packaged by a team of Nnewi professionals, with Dr. Obi Nwosu as its convener, in a communiqué, recalled the great contributions of Nnewi in politics of the state, noting that for the past 10 years, the town has not had its rightful place in all spheres of governance, adding that Nnewi should present its best 11 in any contestable position.

According to the communiqué, “the present zoning formula of one term rotation among the four Nnewi communities as established by Nzuko-Ora Nnewi and Nnewi stakeholders in previous meetings should be sustained, while  agreeable changes can be introduced at the onset and not midway into any term of office.

It further urged Nnewi aspirants for the National Assembly positions to make wide consultations and necessary alliances to achieve success and declared the people’s support to Prof Kingsley Muaghalu, who is vying for the nation’s presidential position.

Apart from former governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba and Dr Obi Nwosu, who signed the communiqué, others who attended the summit include Igwe Kenneth Orizu, represented by Prince Obi Orizu, the four Obi’s of the town, the clergy from both Catholic and Anglican Dioceses of Nnewi, representatives of All Progressives Grand alliance (APGA), Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Prof Kingsley Muoghalu, Senate aspirant, Dr Okey Chidolue, House of Reps aspirant, Emma Chikaelo and Chief Ifeanyi  Uba, among others.
