Police uncover charms, arms at Otulu’s shrine

DELTA State Police Anti-Robbery team has uncovered a dreaded Shrine in Otulu, Delta State were charms, arms and ammunition were stocked and freely used in rituals and robbery operations, even as four of the operators were arrested.

The state Police Commissioner, Mustafa Muhammed who confirmed the arrest and recovery of the weapons to journalist in Asaba, said the police anti-robbery team on intelligence report rounded the shrine inside a bush in the community where the weapons and various charms were recovered and the suspects arrested.

He gave their names as Sunday Kahi, Chukwudi Adibe, Emeka Dennis and Felix Obiora, stating that the worship house serve as a shrine where the operators worship before proceeding for operations.

The police boss further stated upon interrogation, that the suspects confessed to the crime, stressing that they took the police to the worship house where they claimed that they converge and seek protection before setting out for operations.

He stated that the police recovered different guns and ammunition from the suspects who admitted they have been operating across the states for many years.

In a related development the police said they have also arrested a notorious kidnapper identified as Joel Ihiaza in Ughelli Community.

The Police Commissioner said that before his arrest, the suspect who is 31 years old, had been heading a deadly gang. He stated that he was picked up on Agbarho, Ughelli Road on a tip off, stressing that he will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
