Gentle Voice Chorale holds concert, anniversary, Sunday

GENTLE Voice Chorale (GVC) will hold the third edition of her Independence eve choral concert on Sunday along with the commemoration of her 10-year anniversary.

According to the Music Director and founder of the GVC group, Chukwuebuka Okoli, the concert and anniversary event will commence 3pm on Sunday, at Selina Hall, Finotel Clasique Hotel, Agu-Awka.

Among the classical numbers the chorale group will perform for the occasion is Dettingen Te-Deum by G.F. Handel. The presentation will be rendered with the accompaniment of a full orchestra.

Holding under the chairmanship of Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze, Special Guest of Honour at the event will be the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, while Anambra State’s Commissioner for Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, and Diaspora Affairs,Mrs. Sally Mbanefo is Guest of Honour.

Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu and the chief executive officer of Finotel Classique Hotel, Chief Sir Obi Udogu are grand patrons of the choral group.

Okoli described the chorale group as anon-denominational group of young men and women gifted in the art of music, adding that it aims at bringing out the best in upcoming musical stars.

He stated that the organisation have performed in different functions both within and outside Anambra State, including 2017 Anambra State festival of Carol of Nine Lessons, held at Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka.

He further stated that In 2016, September 30th, they had their maiden independence eve choral concert, with recommendation from those in attendance and that the 2nd edition was last year, 2017, where they performed ‘ININE’ an epic folk music by Sir Chuma Chukwuka, adding that this year, another fresh edition, ‘Dettingen Te Deum’ by G.F Handel will be performed with full orchestra accompaniment.
