Present NFF has not done well – Ifeanyi Ubah

CHAIRMAN Anambra State Football Association and also an aspirant Anambra South Senatorial district Dr. Ifeanyi Uba has added his voice to that of other millions of football lovers in the country in congratulating Nigeria football federation boss Amaju Pinnick over his re-election as the NFF president.

Uba who openly threw his support for Aminu Maigari told journalist in Awka on Friday 21st September that the present NFF has under performed.

According to Uba “I am a man that have conscience. I stand for the right thing to be done. I have never seen were election are been held in a country and a sitting executive will insist that they will all return. When these happens, it means there is no room for democracy. Reacting to the re-election of the NFF boss and his executive, Uba added by saying “I support Pinnick and I love what he is doing in Africa but I still stand on my position that the present executive of the NFF has not done well and we cannot continue to support people that has not met up with our expectation. I must fight to see that Nigeria football take its rightful position. There are no investors coming into Nigeria football in the last two years. I congratulate him for wining but my position is that until they change their ways, I will continue to be on the other side.

Gianni Infantino, President of world football ruling body, FIFA has sent a congratulatory message to Amju Pinnick on his re-election as the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). In the letter addressed to the NFF and copied to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Infantino congratulated Pinnick and the other executive members who were elected and wished them the best of luck for the challenges ahead.

In the polls conducted by the NFF electoral committee in Katsina, Pinnick beat three other contestants, polling 34 votes. The second placed Aminu Maigari got eight votes, with former international, Taiwo Ogorijobi securing only 2 votes, while there was non for club owner, Chinedu Okoye who had zero vote. It would be recalled that Ambassador Chris Euwa has made the first administration of Pinnick unbearable through challenging the election that brought the Delta born administrator to power.

FIFA had earlier written to Mr. Euwa and others, saying it only recognized the Amaju-led NFF. FIFA has repeatedly warned Nigeria and other countries to ensure there was no government interference in football. Such interference leads to suspension of a country’s national team from global and continental football.
