Floodwaters has submerged some stalls, conveniences, generator house and Marine Hotel, located at Main Market, Onitsha,
The raging floodwaters had earlier submerged many other surrounding communities in the state.

At the Main Market, the floodwaters destroyed goods worth millions of naira, cutting off some roads leading to the market.

Speaking on behalf of other traders, Manager, Marine Hotel, Mr. William Oputa, said the floodwaters adversely affected their businesses as roads leading to stalls were submerged preventing customers from patronising them.

Oputa appealed to Anambra State Government to come to their aid, because the number of stalls affected increase on daily basis.

Chairman, Waterside Line, Mr. Ezennia Ahanonu, added that Zone C Generator House and conveniences built by Gov. Willie Obiano were also affected by flooding.

Ahanonu noted that the market currently lacked conveniences, compelling traders to ease themselves in the River Niger.

He, however, urged people using the river in place of conveniences to desist from such acts, stressing that gates into the river would soon be shutdown.
The chairman, then, called on traders near the river banks that were yet to heed to the warning from Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (ASEMA) to relocate to safer grounds.
