St. Gabriel’s Parish, Okpuno, enrolls Holy Childhood Association

ST. GABRIEL’S Catholic Church, Okpuno, enrolled some children into the Holy Childhood Association, last Sunday.
Vicar of the parish, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Izuakor, who is also the chaplain of the Holy Childhood Association, Awka Deanery 1, officiated at the mass which was well attended by the parishioners, Rev. Sisters, including the co-ordinator of Holy Childhood Association, Awka Diocese, Rev. Sr. Makuochukwu Okafor.

In his homily Rev. Fr. Izuakor admonished children to always be obedient like Samuel in the bible, referring them to how God called Samuel and the need to follow God with a meek heart.

He also advised parents to be serious with their parental responsibilities, pointing out how God punished Eli because he did not do what he was supposed to do when his children were misbehaving, even as he warned parents to stop misleading their wards.

In his words, “Holy Childhood originated from France 175 years ago for children to help each other. Let us support them. Any child that grows like this will be responsible in future”.

On her own part, the co-ordinator of Holy Childhood Association, Awka Diocese, Rev. Sr. Makuochukwu Okafor (IHM) while addressing the children said, “it’s an honour to be enrolled in the association. It’s a great service to humanity. It’s wonderful seeing children score many to help other children”

. Sr Okafor further encouraged other children to join the association even as she appealed to parents and guardians to help the children to stand firm.
One of the children enrolled in the association Chukwudozie Gloria, on behalf of her colleagues, said that she was happy about the day and thanked God for everything.
