Nnobi celebrates Ashia Olu

NNOBI monarch, Igwe Nick Obi,of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state has celebrated Nnobi 2018 Ashia Olu Festival with the entire Nnobi people.

Speaking from his throne in Nnobi, Igwe Obi narrated the sequence of New yam and Ashia Olu celebrations. The royal father said that new yam celebration always began with Ikoji by Okpala Villiage in Nnobi which is performed at Afor Nnobi Market before it is sold in the market, which is followed by yam eating at the Igwe’s palace.

The three quarters of Nnobi, Ebenesi, Ngo and Awuda join with invited guests with Nnobi rich culture.
Those double cultural cerebration, he said, served as thanksgiving period to God for His guidance and grace towards eating what they cultivated in their respective farms, especially yam, which he described as chief of all farm cultivations .

He expressed joy that Ashia olu and New Yam in Nnobi feature interesting cultural dances and masquerading, which usually attract huge home coming by ndi Nnobi . His message for the celebration was that the people of Nnobi should be good and worthy ambassadors of town and imbibe the think home philosophy
