Need for low carbon power

MAN has caused a lot of damage to his environment in many ways,, though there is no way this kind of damage could not have been done because of man’s activitiese.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reported that the rise in temperature since mid-20th century is due to anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations that contrive to climate change. Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, carbon dioxide Co2 has 72% with rise in concentration in the atmosphere from 315 parts per million (PMM) in 1958 and 375 PMM in 2015.

Emission from energy accounts for up to 61.4% of all greenhouse gas emissions and also power generation from traditional coal fuel sources accounts for 18.8% of all world greenhouse gas emissions,, nearly double that emitted by road transportation.  It is estimated that by 2020, the world will be producing about twice as much carbon emissions as it was in 2000.

In view of this, the Global Commission on Adaption is being led by the immediate past UN Secretary General, Banki-moon, American billionaire, Bill Gate and the CEO of World Bank, Kritalina Georgiev,a with the involvement of 17 countries of the world.

Money is being invested to see that the carbon emissions is being reduced towards the climate change impacts that are already inevitable. More than $380bn (£287bn) was enmarked for the excesses, and with $20bn in tackling the extreme weather.

Banki-moon disclosed a way adaption will be achieved, climate change is happening much faster than one may think, but with political will, anything can be done.

He also said, the international consensus to fight global warming had been damaged by Trump’s actions. On Sunday, Trump questioned whether global warming was caused by human activities, contradicting the long-established conclusions of the world scientists.

Adaptation measurers to safeguard people’s homes, food, water and energy are being implemented in some places but at far too small a scale, the commissioners said.

On a social point, the biggest contributing factor to the general public’s awareness on climate change and the need for new technologies and the early steps on the angle of low carbon power was signed in Kyoto protocol that came into force on February 16, 2005,

with some industrialized countries agreeing to reduce their carbon emissions and the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) provisions of Scientific, Technical and social-economic advice to the world, through it’s assessments reports and special reports.

As the year progresses, electricity demands increases faster. In order to meet up with the growing trends of life, and as well tackle the challenges of climate change and comply with the international energy agency’s 2.c scenario. The low carbon business was made to account for nearly 20% of needs in 20 years.

The development of renewable energies, especially so far. With Operations spanning the manufacture of high efficiency photovoltaic panels, ground-based power plants decentralised systems, storage solutions and marketing to end customers and bring present across the entire value chain and fast-tracking the development of solar technology.

This low-carbons have their dependence in one way or another on sunlight. Wind and hydro-electric power gets their heating of the earth’s surface that leads to air moving about while the air is lifted. Solar energy is direct conversion of sunlight using panels.

Biomass energy is stored sunlight contained in plants, other renewable energies that do not depend on sunlight are geothermal energy.

Which is a result of radioactive decay in the crust combined with the original heat of accretion the earth and tidal energy, which is a conversion of gravitational energy, then oceans and hot hydrogen fusion are other forms that generate electricity.

It also can help make the transition from non-renewable to renewable and environmentally friendly energy.
