OGBARU Local Government Area of Anambra State has empowered its Traffic Control Agency, Ogbaru Disciplinary/Traffic Control Agency with bylaws aimed at giving legal bite to the agency and improving its Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

The Council Chairman,  Arinzechukwu Awogu, made this known, while presiding over the meeting of the governing board of the agency. He said the law, which had since become effective was approved to strengthen the activities of the 80-man traffic control outfit.

“Enabling bylaws and resolutions have been passed to strengthen the activities of the Ogbaru Disciplinary/Traffic Control Agency and these will have a positive effect on the local government roads. Massive removal of all wrongly parked vehicles and towing them will commence on Monday, next week, which will also help in boosting the Internally Generated Revenue of the local government,” Awogu said.

He warned that those who pick and drop passengers on the road and those who park in unauthorized places will be the targets of the operation and said that areas around Ogbahu (Uga) Junction, Bypass-Harbour Industrial Layout, Obodoukwu Road, Idemili Junction, Owerri Road among others, will feel the impact of the operation.

While appreciating the collective effort in bringing about the passage of the bylaw which he sent to the legislative arm of the local government, the Ogbaru Council boss said, “…let me also place on record that the relationship between the executive, legislative and career staffers in the local government has been very peaceful and cordial which has helped my administration achieve the much we’ve done in just five months and two weeks of my being in office,” he stated.
