Finally, APC dumps Okorocha’s son-in-law

WITH less than one day to the November 2 deadline for parties to send names of their flag bearers to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),

the National Working Committee (NWC) of All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday dumped Gov Rochas Okorocha’s choice, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, to finally opt for Sen. Hope Uzodinma as the authentic governorship candidate of the party for Imo state.

NWC’s sealed the issue during an emergency meeting in Abuja yesterday after reviewing the conduct of primaries in the states especially in areas where there were challenges and decided to weigh its options before arriving at major decisions, to resolve the lingering stalemate over the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 elections.

A source said that although the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomohole, was summoned to Aso Rock in the middle of the meeting, the choice of Uzodinma was almost unanimous, with Okorocha left to choose his senatorial ambition or his desire to have his son in-law, Nwosu as his successor – but not both.

It was also gathered that Oshiomhole had advised the governor to cede 45 percent of the party structure to the Uzodinma group to paper the cracks in Imo APC.
