Akwa UTD FC new manager assumes duty

NEW manager for Akwa United Football Club, Uyo has assumed duty. He is a former FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Nnewi, sweat merchant, Raphael Everton.

Speaking at the Ultra-Modern Godswill Akpabio International Stadium during his unveiling ceremony, the Chairman of Akwa United FC, Elder Paul Bassey said the recruitment of former FC Ifeanyi Ubah coach was as a result of the vacuum left in the Akwa Utd FC following the

departure of Abdu Maikaba to the Plateau Utd of Jos.
Elder Bassey who is also the Senior Special Assistant on Sports Development to the State Governor, said that so many coaches within the country sought for the plumb job but the management decided to go for the Brazilian coach.

According to the Chairman, the coach is not engaged in any national assignment to the detriment of the club.
The Akwa Utd Chairman said the club had a wonderful two years under Coach Abdu Maikaba and urged the new coach who is on contract for a year to supersede him.

In his response, the new manager, Raphael Everton, thanked management of Akwa United for finding him fit to be manager of the club.

He gave assurance that he would do all in his capacity to win trophies for the club.
He however pleaded for prayers, cooperation from both the management, fans and supporters to make his job less cumbersome.

Among dignitaries who watched the ceremony were Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Coach Aniedi Dickson, State Chairman Football Association, Mr Emmanuel Ibah, Management of Akwa United FC, supporters of the club and other sports lovers.
