Pa Ngige goes home today

THE remains of Chief Alphonsus Nnolumuene Okoye Ngige will be committed to mother earth today, after a requiem high Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Alor.

He died at the age of 94 years.
A release signed by a member of his family, Chief Ossy Ngige, indicates the Pa Ngige’s interment will take place at his compound in Umuezi Kindred, Urueze-Ide Village, Alor in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to the release, his funeral ceremony kicked off yesterday with an all-night Christian wake-keep and vigil in Pa Ngige’s residence at Obi Umungige family compound.

Today, his body will leave Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital Nnewi at 7: 00am to his compound for lying-in-state before his remains is interred after the funeral Mass as condolence visits by in-laws, relations, friends, associates and the general public follows and continues tomorrow.

There will be an outing cum thanksgiving Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Alor on Sunday, December 16.
The release further stated that the late Chief Okoye Ngige was devout Catholic dedicated to charity and humanitarian works to the needy. He was also a member of the prestigious Ozo Society in Alor, where he took the chieftaincy title of Ozo Omechancha.
