Anambra walks for Life, tomorrow

THE increasingly popular Anambra State Walk for Life programme enters its third edition on Saturday, December 22, 2018.

This time around, the exercise will take off from the usual former Divisional Officer’s field, opposite Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, at 6.30 a.m. Participants will from there walk through Eke Awka, Amenyi, AguAwka, Arroma, and end the exercise at Ekwueme Square, Awka, a distance of about 11 kilometres.

According to the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, this third edition is a very special edition targeted at inspiring ndi Anambra returning home for the yuletide season and other tourists to participate. There will therefore be no Walk4Life in January 2019.

In another development, Anambra State surpassed its previous records at the 19th National Sports Festival which ended last Saturday in Abuja with a haul of over 20 medals including five gold and eleven silver medals.  This is an indication that the recent creation of a Sports Development Commission by the Obiano administration is beginning to yield positive results.

One of the highlights of the December 22, 2018 Walk4Life exercise will be an opportunity to meet with the 2018 National Sports Festival medalists, and other ndi Anambra sports greats, who will be participating in the exercise too.
