2019 Elections: 82 Div Commander urges soldiers’ neutrality

GENERAL Officer Commanding 82 Division, Nigeria Army, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Maikobi, has warned soldiers against involving in partisan politics, even as he reminded them  of their roles to remain neutral in the forth coming general election in the country.

The GOC, who handed the warning to officers and men of 302 Artillery Regiment in Onitsha, Anambra State, also reminded them that soldiers do not belong to any political party and they should remain neutral during and after the elections.

Also speaking, Col Yakubu Bwala Commander, 302 Artillany Regiment, Onitsha, cautioned the soldiers against indulging in illegal duties, stressing that anyone caught would be dismissed and made to face the wrath of the law.

Highlighting the security arrangement for the elections, the new GOC said the major duty of the soldiers wass to ensure that lives and property were protected throughout the period and after the election.

His words, “the major duty of the soldiers now is the general elections, “your main duty is to protect the citizens and their property”.

“We have to pray that God will take over the security situation of the country. Our major concern from now is general elections. We must at all time remain neutral”.
