Golden Tulip Hotels commissioned in Agulu

 IN KEEPING with his promise to’ Continue, Complete, Commission and Commence campaign mantra on assumption of office, Governor Willie Obiano has performed the grand commissioning of the Golden Tulip Hotels and Resorts, Agulu Lake, a project he inherited from his predecessor.

Performing the official opening of the hotel , Governor Willie Obiano said there was need for investors to catch-in on the enabling environment created by his administration to invest in Anambra State as the state is safe and secure and also an investment destination .

The governor said that the hotel was properly sited, giving it the vantage position of tourist centre . He maintained that with the opening of Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu Lake , government is telling the world that Anambra State is open for business.

He equally explained that his administration has made it practically possible for businesses to thrive as about 218 hotels sprang up under his regime, describing the hotel as an asset to the state .

The five star project which sits on a 5.5 hectares of land, has 81 rooms, 500 sitting capacity banquet halls, including 88 hectares of land space for expansion which can still accommodate a 200 room expansion project, event center, among others.

The governor, who said that under his watch, 218 hotels have sprang up due to the security architecture in place, pointed out that the project will promote the state as a hub for tourism, and appreciated Agulu people for their support during the course of the project.

The senator representing Anambra Central at the National Assembly, Victor Umeh, said that the uncommon transformation Anambra State had witnessed since 2006 was because APGA was in charge of the government.

He recalled that at the commencement of Obiano’s administration, the governor promised to continue, complete, comission and commence new projects.

According to Senator Umeh: “the hotel project was Inherited by Governor Willie Obiano in 2014 and there was a palpable anxiety whether it will be completed, particularly from the host community; but  Obiano in keeping with his attitude to work, delivered a Five Star Hotel.”

While thanking the governor for completing the hotel project, Senator Victor Umeh emphatically stated that APGA will take Anambra State to that enviable height of our dream. He admonished ndi Anambra to keep on supporting the party.

Earlier, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the hotel, Professor Chukwuma Soludo said that the hotel is one of the signature projects of the governor, whose foundation was laid few months before the expiration of the tenure of the former governor.

The Chairman of the Golden Tulip West Africa, Mr Amaechi Ndili, while describing the project as the phase one, said that it was an expansion of the hospitality industry in the state.

Highpoint of the event was the commissioning of the hotel by Governor Willie Obiano and the cutting of the tape by the traditional ruler of Agulu, Igwe Innocent Obodoakor.
