FG to assist 506 foreign-trained doctors secure job

FEDERAL government has pledged to assist the inducted 506 foreign trained doctors to  secure work replacement.

The inductees emerged from the 903 candidates who sat for the October and November 2018 Medical and Dental Council Of Nigeria (MDCN) , assessment examination for medical students trained abroad.

At the induction of the doctors, Health Minister, Isaac Adewole, said that his ministry and the MDCN would assist them to get work placement to ensure that none of them roam about the streets.

The minister also pledged government’s support for them to practice without hardship and charged them against temptations they might face in the course of performing their duties.

One of the inductees,  Hauwau Milgoma, who graduated from Elrazi University in Sudan, said that state-of-the art equipment should be provided in all health facilities in the country to enable practitioners perform maximally.

She said: “The medical sector is really facing some challenges and that is why health workers have been going on strike frequently in the country”.

The Minister of Health stressed that his vision is to ensure universal coverage, to make healthcare accessible to all Nigerians irrespective of their social status.
