I’ll serve people, not self – Atsaka

KRIST Atsaka, former chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Benue State is poised to win the election for Makurdi South constituency, Benue State as his people route for him.

Atsaka, who was two term chairman of NUJ said that he would ensure good governance by promoting good relationship between executive and Judiciary in the state.

The Labour Party faithful, noted that his vision is to serve the people rather than self and combine function of law – making, over sight and representation to engender good governance that will attract dividends of democracy to his constituency and entire Benue State in general.

According to him: “to achieve this, a focused and deliberate lobbying and persuasion of other members in the 9th Assembly will be adopted to review existing laws and enacting new ones that will guarantee infrastructural development ( water , roads, electricity heath education, women and Youth empowerment care for the aged and underprivileged or unenviable person and education”.

Atsaka also pointed out that he would promote agriculture to ensure food security / agro- allied activities to revamp of food basket status of the state.

He stated that security of lives and property will also be his priority through community based neighborhood watch in collaboration with state security apparatus.

Informed by his experience in labour matters as a trained unionist, he said that workers welfare and pension would be the high point of his activity in the Assembly.
