NMA award winner Prof Nwaorah receives hero’s burial

 THE Health Industry in Anambra State accorded its last respect to one of its most illustrious sons, professor (Dr) Anthony  Benjamin Chike Nwaorah in a burial ceremony attended by his professional colleagues in the medical profession and the cream of the society.

Dr Nwaorah was one of the very prominent gynaecologists in the state. He was well known in the medical field of Nigerian Medical Association for the award of fashioning a vagina in a woman, a feat which is rare in the medical profession.

The guru, who was a rare combination of intellectualism, was  traditionally grounded and spiritually endowed practice was unassuming not minding his towering personality.

Loved by many, he was a philanthropist par excellence, a feat which earned him the traditional title of “Ojeluora.”

His religious life was noteworthy as he was a committed Marian devotee which manifested greatly in his contributions towards the popularisation of the Aokpe, Umunya and Obowo Marian apparitions.

He was a man of many parts, including being a patron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and an awardee from the Association of Nigerian Authors, Anambra State chapter.

Speaking to the press after his burial, his first son, Anthony Benjamin Chinedu Nwaorah Jnr, a lawyer described his father as a great man who contributed immensely to the development of the society.

Mr Nwaorah thanked all those who graced the occasion of the funeral of his late father.

Late Professor Nwaorah, a Kings College, Lagos, Scholar and medical guru practiced medicine in Nigeria, Greece and Germany. Until his death, he was the medical director of the Hill Top Maternity Hospital, Amawbia.  He was aged 84.
