Orumba North LG boss holds thanksgiving service

CHAIRMAN, Orumba North Local Government Area, Ify Obinabo, has held a Thanksgiving Service at St Clements’s Catholic Church, Umuogem-Ufuma, to appreciate God for her appointment as the chairman of the local government.

Mrs. Obinabo, the former Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Agriculture, is the first female local government chairman in the council, used the occasion to thank Governor Obiano, for giving her opportunity to serve the state.

She assures that the mantle of leadership bestowed on her would be for the good of the state and in particular the local government, “It’s a privilege to serve the state, my commitment to you is to make the local government better than I met.”

The veteran broadcaster thanked her immediate family members and everyone who worked hard for her to be where she is today.

The officiating priest, Rev. Fr Hamington Okeke, in his sermon urged those appointed into positions to use it for the good of everybody. “Not everyone gets the opportunity to be elected or appointed, no greater service can the person offer than to add value to lives.

Fr. Okeke, urged the congregants to love one another, even as Christ loved them. He praised Obinabo for consecrating her family and the position to God first and urged her to help in the building of the church which has not been finished years ago.

Present at the thanksgiving were Chief Raymond Obieri, former chairman of defunct Intercontinental Bank, former Chairman Orumba North LGA, Emeka Aforka, Ufuma APGA Wards.
