CHELSEA have successfully signed Juventus striker, Gonzalo Higuain, head coach Maurizio Sarri has said after a successful medicals at Stamford yesterday.

The Argentina international scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A games in his one season at Napoli under Sarri.

“He scored 36 goals in 35 matches in Serie A,” Sarri told reporters. “In the season he scored 39 goals so he did very very well. For sure, he is one of the best strikers that I had in my career.

“He wants to win all the time in any situation. In the last five years he lost his temper twice a little bit.”

Chelsea play Tottenham in Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge, bidding to overturn a 1-0 deficit to reach the February 24 final.

The Blues had until 12noon to register Higuain for the match, but Sarri says “it’s impossible” for Higuain to feature.

“It is impossible (to play tomorrow), I have to speak with the doctor and see him more, but I think for tomorrow it is impossible,” Sarri added.

Higuain has been on loan at AC Milan from Juventus this season, scoring just once in his last 12 appearances for the Rossoneri.
