Nkwelle-Ezunaka community applauds Obiano

PEOPLE of Nkwelle-Ezunaka, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, have expressed gratitude to Governor Willie Maduabuchi Obiano for the unprecedented contributions by his administration in the infrastructural upliftment of the community.

President General of the Nkwelle-Ezunaka Union (NEU), Peter Nweke, made the commendation while speaking to the press briefly after their Annual General Meeting, held in the modernized civic centre renovated under the first phase of the N20million ‘Choose Your Project’ scheme of the presented state government.

Sir Peter Nweke showered encomiums on Governor Obiano for the street light project completed within two months, which elevated the aesthetic beauty of the town and enhanced tight security throughout the Yuletide in the community.

He also thanked the governor for awarding contract for the reconstruction of Onitsha/Enugu Expressway/Mechanic Village Oze Nkwelle Road now at advanced stage of completion, as well as proper drainage systems.

The second phase of the N20 million grassroots’ development scheme would be utilized to construct modern lock-up shops at the Nkwo and Afor markets in the town to generate revenue for the town union to execute more infrastructural projects to uplift the living standards of the people, according to the PG.

Recounting the strides so far recorded under his leadership of the town, Sir Peter Nweke stated that indigenes of the community based in United States of America (USA) sponsored the provision of speed-breakers (bumps) on the ever busy Nkwelle Ezunaka bypass off Onitsha/Enugu expressway at the cost of N1.7 million.

To promote love, unity and peace, the NEU executive also organized football competition for all the villages to engage the youths gainfully during the last yuletide with attractive financial rewards for the victorious teams, he further stated, pointing out that it would be sustained in future as a way of promoting the spirit of brotherhood amongst the people.

On the rampant land skirmishes arising from unlawful sale of communal lands by some dubious individuals, the PG vowed that hard times awaited the culprits as the present NEU executives would deal ruthlessly with them.

He implored the people to participate actively in the democratic processes and ensure they secure their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) in order to vote in the forth coming general elections.
