Mrs Obiano commission toilets in Onitsha Main Market

WIFE of Anambra State Governor Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano has commissioned six ultramodern toilets built at Zone 3, Main Market Onitsha to improve the hygiene of traders.

During the inauguration of the facilities on Saturday, Dr. Obiano said commissioning  of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) toilet project was one of governments numerous programmes targeted at improving lives of its citizenry.

The wife of the governor, represented by the  Special Adviser to the Governor on Indigenous Medicine and Herbal Practice, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim said the toilet was built to enhance hygiene and preserve the dignity of traders, especially women.

According to him, 15 toilets,  25 borehole water projects, 22 houses built for Indigent widows, amongst others have been executed  to improve the lives of the less privileged in the state.

He however charged the market leaders and traders to keep the facilities clean and manage it properly in the interest of the market community.

Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman , Onitsha North Local  Government Area Mr. Patrick Aghamba who described Onitsha Main Market as the biggest market in West Africa extolled Mrs. Obiano for her initiative.

Also, the Caretaker Chairman of Onitsha Market Amalgamated Traders Association,  Mr. Ike Ekwegbalu commended the cordial relationship that has existed between the traders and government. He  praised the government for erecting an ultramodern toilet with functional facilities in the market.
