Obiano assures adequate security during election

GOVERNOR Obiano has stated vividly that election matters must be handled appropriately, and all those who have the intention of causing mayhem should be put in check.

Represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke during a meeting of state stakeholders  on 2019 general elections at Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center. Awka,the governor said>

“The problem with the card reader of either not working or recognizing finger prints should be put in check and appropriate replacement of materials ensured” Obiano  advised.

The governor affirmed that the card reader must be used. Failure of card readers in any polling unit would lead to the cancellation of votes in that polling center till the next day.

He also advised election observers to ensure they really observe the elections, and desist from writing their reports from the comfort of their hotel rooms. He urged the electorates to take their voter cards to their polling boot between 8am -2pm and cast their votes.

Earlier in an address, Resident Electoral Commissioner,. Nkwachukwu Orji said INEC wass fully prepared for the election, as all the election officers have been trained effectively.

Mr. Orji also stated that the architecture of the voting cubicle has been reordered, and no one will be allowed to enter the voting cubicle with their smart phones.

The resident electoral commissioner also said that enough security personnels will be deployed to the 4,608 polling centers of Anambra State, to ensure the safety of the electorates.

Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, Mustapha Dandaura, who assured that the police and all security agencies will do all in their power to ensure a free and fair election, also said that all vulnerable points in the state have been highly secured.
