2019 elections: Group condemns call for removal of A’Ibom REC

SOCIO Cultural Organisation in Akwa Ibom State, the Akpan Akwa Ibom State has condemned the demand by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the removal of the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini.

The Ibom Patriot which described the demand as baseless, worrisome and an ill-informed action, noted that such demand is capable of jeopardizing the peace and tranquility of the state as well as impeding the fledgling democracy the people of the state currently enjoy.

It could be recalled that the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole at a recent national working committee meeting had queried the “impartiality” of  Mike Igini even as APC members in Akwa Ibom State took to the streets, demanding for his removal.

In a release jointly signed by the chancellor of the organization, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen, Secretary General, Usen obong Akpabio and chairmen of the three senatorial districts of the state, Dr. Okon Emah, (Uyo Senatorial District) Sir ict and Arc Okon Obot (Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District), called on the APC not only to desist from such act which they described as infantile and grand standing but to outrightly apologize to the people of the state and to the REC, Mike Igini.
