Nigeria joins world Taekwondo educators

NIGERIA has successfully participated in the inaugural World Taekwondo Educator Certification Program held from March 9 to 11, in South Korea.

Chika Chukwumerije, Technical Director of the Nigerian Taekwondo Federation (NTF) represented the country at the programme becoming the first Nigerian to do so.

Chukwuemeirije, an Olympic Bronze medalist in Taekwondo said that he was specifically invited by the World Taekwondo Education Committee to be part of the pioneering program.

“The objective of the program is to develop a selected number of world taekwondo educators to be sent to various regions of the world.

“Their duties would be educating and training taekwondo coaches participating in world taekwondo international events.

The African Games (AG) gold medalist said that he learnt a lot from the loaded courses and interactions with other participants who are global taekwondo superstars.

“The knowledge gained would impact positively on the NTF especially in changing its curriculum for the intended coaching workshop in the Six-geopolitical zones of the country.

“I will collaborate with the chairman of the NTF Technical and Development committee to enhance the technical aspects of the coaching workshop.

He noted that the NTF would remain united and re-double its efforts to make the sport more reputable nationally and internationally.
