Awka engineers move to eradicate quacks

MEMBERS of the Nigerian Society of Engineers {NSE) Awka Branch, led by the outgoing  Chairman, Edmond Nkalu paid a courtesy visit to the state government house, to introduce their new leaders, and appreciate state government for their immense support to the society in the past years.

Speaking to National Light, the incoming chairman, Martin Agbili, who commended the good works of his predecessors stated that leadership is all about continuity, and promised to continue from where they stopped and even do better. ”We will build the Engineering centre on the land purchased by our predecessors to serve as a land mark for NSE, and ensure that quacks are reduced to minimum level” he assured.

”Apart from that we know the method of collapsed buildings in Anambra State and we are trying to form a committee to look into this, so that we do not continue to have incessant building collapse in the state, so as to checkmate it with what we do, and what people do in line with Engineering ethics. Also we intend to collaborate with the state government to ensure success is attained” Agbili maintained.

Agbili further congratulated the deputy governor of the state Dr. Nkem Okeke, for his new achievement as a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), appreciated him for his past support and invited him to their forthcoming program on Saturday, which is the investiture of the new executives and induction of new members.

Welcoming the members of NSE to his conference hall Dr. Okeke, expressed delight towards the new feat he just achieved. “I feel very excited and elated on becoming a Fellow, to me it is like another award, but the accolades I received towards this have made me appreciate it more. I thank God the ceremony went well. It is really a prestigious group to be part of” he said.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State further commended the outgoing chairman for his humility and his ability to secure a land for the group, and commended the incoming chairman for being a goal getter, and his effort to achieve success. He promised them state government’s support and prayed the new administration achieve success.

Highpoint of the event, a formal invitation to the investiture of the new executives and induction of new members was presented to the deputy governor by Prof. S.I Ofordile (FNSE).
