Obiano commtted to lighting up Anambra communities

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has said that his administration has achieved over 100 kilometres stretch of street light across the three senatorial zones in the area.

Governor Obiano disclosed this while inaugurating the four kilometre street light project along Umueze- Isuofia- Ekwulobia General Hospital Road at Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area.

The governor restated the commitment of his administration to light up all communties in the state before the end of his administration.

Governor Obiano noted that his administration would put mechanisms in place to promote the economic well being of all citizens.

In his remarks, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo stressed that Governor Obiano’s street light projects would stimulate the socio- economic transformation of the state.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Obi Nwankwo revealed that the present administration had covered all the local government areas of the state in its street light projects.

High point of the ceremony was the switch on of the street lights by the Traditional Ruler of Isuofia, Igwe Aloy Moghalu to the admiration of the residents.

In another development, Gov Obiano has inaugurated the street light project on Mmilikwe Road, Abubor- Nnewichi in Nnewi North LGA.

The light project which links four other streets in Nnewi is the eleven street light job to be completed in the community.

Performing the function, Governor Willie Obiano stated that his administration was in the final phase of installing street lights in Nnewi.

Governor Obiano noted that his administration spent over N1billion in upgrading the electricity feeder at Obosi to boost power supply to Nnewi and environs.

He said the upgrade was designed to stimulate business growth and ensure that there was adequate security in the area.

The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Obi Nwankwo remarked that the job was part of the 3rd phase of the 100 kilometres of street light projects in the area.

Mr Nwankwo disclosed that goverment was working towards constructing street lights on major roads across the state.

The Member representing Nnewi North Constituency in the state House of Assemly, Mr Amala Anazodo applauded the governor for embarking on the job.

Also, the member elect, Nnewi North state constituency, Mr Smart Okafor and the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North LGA., Prince Chukwudi Orizu expressed the hope that the project would impact well on socio- economic activities in the area.

    Pls pay the contractors and engineers on that project.
