New minimum wage: I’ll not disappoint workers – Obiano

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano has assure Anambra workers on payment of the N30,000 national minimum wage, stating that its implementation will add over N2billion a wage bill on the state government’s monthly expenses.

Making this known  at a get together with some media men his Aguleri residence on Monday, the governor, who said he would keep his promise to  workers in the state, called for concerted efforts towards improving the state’s internally generated revenue to aid the government in carrying out other important expenses for enhancing development of the state.

The Governor, who said he was impressed with the current output of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, noted that he has put machineries in motion to ensure that the station is accommodated on DSTV.

Governor Obiano noted that he watches ABS on YouTube and appreciated the staff for their hard-work and resilience, especially the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Uche Nworah.

The governor disclosed that the state government has invested over N2.1billion  to give the ABS its present digital status, adding that he would do more to uplift the after the implementation of the new minimum wage.

A member of the Board of Management of the government owned electronic media and the traditional ruler of Nteje in Oyi Local Government area, Igwe Roland Odegbo, thanked the governor for the commendation, urging the Staff of the station to be focused and committed to duty.
