Anambra 3rd phase water project to cost over N50b, says Meju

ONGOING third phase water project of the Anambra State Ministry of Public Utilities assisted by World Bank will cost about N50 to N100 billion.

The project, which began on April 22 was a unique one as it was designed as an investment Planning Capacity (IPC), where the consumers would be provided with water meters.

The Senior Special Assistant to governor on Public Utilities, Victor Meju who unveiled this to journalists in his office,said that officials of Federal Water Resources met with the stakeholders in the state to assess the engineering engagement on possible ways of meter cards to assess water.

He said that the pilot scheme would first take place in Awka North and South, Nnewi North and South and Onitsha North and South.

According to him, the third phase water project will end in six months time after which there will be test- run to ascertain the efficiency of the project.

He, however, said that the water project would make water available where there was urgent need for water.

The SSA noted that the stakeholders in the ministry also assessed the level of commitment of urban rehabilitation projects.
