Walk for better electricity supply, billing to hold in Awka

RECOVER Nigeria Project, a Non-governmental Organization (NGO), which mobilizes and galvanises people to engage government for positive actions will stage ‘Awka Electricity Walk’ on May 10, to draw the attention of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), to the plight of electricity consumers in the state capital.

According the Coordinator and Convener of Recover Nigeria Project,  Osita Obi, said consumers will walk through some designated areas in Awka to demand for prepaid meter, stoppage of estimated billing, walk for the greater electricity supply in Awka and to end extortion and exploitation by EEDC.

Comrade Obi, stated that the walk is to make Awka have a better electricity, “The state capital has electricity issues compared to other capitals. It saddens that my state capital has this challenge compared to other states. This shouldn’t be the case for a state like Anambra. With constant electricity, Awka will witness a faster pace of development,” he said.

The awareness  walk which will kick off at Alex Ekwueme Square, will take consumers through Arroma Junction, and terminate at EEDC office, Awka.
