National body of Anambra students get new executive

A NEW executive of the National Union of Anambra State Students (NUASS) were inaugurated in an event which held in Awka, capital of Anambra State. 

The event, which took  place at the event hall of Kenneth Dike E-library, Awka, witnessed the handover and swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected national leadership,  also witnessed a Scholarship award to five indigent students by the former national president.

It had in attendance distinguished  ndi Anambra from all walks of life which include SSA to Governor Obiano on Youth Development and Digital Entrepreneurship Mr Ifeanyi Aniagoli, Senator –elect, Anambra South Senatorial District) represented by  Okoye Francis Akwaeke , Prophet Dr. Ramas Asuzu (Akajiofor na Nrị Kingdom), chairman of the occasion and Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra State, Comrade  Jerry Nnubia, ,  former Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, Igbariam Campus, Associate Prof. Obiora Arinzem, Chief Austin Chudi Anyaeji of the Local Government Service Commission, President General, Okija Town, NUASS Legal Adviser, Charles Uzoma Dioha and Chief Okechukwu Akaeze Igbakwu, among others.

In his remarks before the handover speech, the out-going president,Godwin Echegwo, listed the achievements of his administration which include the distribution of academic materials to secondary schools in all the 21 local government areas of the state, partnering IPAC to conduct the last governorship debate  and also selecting people who worked as ad-hoc staff and observers in the last presidential debate, among others.

Chairman of the occasion, Comrade Jerry Nnubia was impressed by the impact the past administration made and charged the in-coming one to do more. “I am happy that this union has extended to the secondary school students as well. It is better to catch them young now before they fall into the hands of  bad gangs.

Prophet Ramas Asuzu (Akajiofor na Nrị Kingdom) in an interview, advised the union and Anambra students to shy away from cultism and promote education. He also urged them to extend their gestures and focus also on students outside Awka metropolis.

The legal advicer to the union, Charles Uzuoma Dioha, advised the new executives to show their capacity as it involves NUASS national leadership.

The union also awarded scholarship to five indigenous students, by the out-going national executive, led by Godwin Chibunna Echegwo, who stated that the gesture will continue but next time in different schools to support hardworking students.

The out-going President, who initiated the scholarship award expressed gratitude to Almighty God for making it a success and added that the benefactors were selected based on their high academic performance.

The new president, Rtr. Chubuike Obiwuzie, promised to work for the advancement of the objectives of NUASS and craved the support of Anambra Students in Nigeria and in the Diaspora to enable his executive achieve their set goals. He however promised to focus on helping poor Ndi Anambra students who are serious with their education.
