Police arrest 79 suspected cultists and robbery syndicate

ANAMBRA police command has arrested Seventy five 75 suspected cultists and one chance robbery syndicate at Upper Iweka in Onitsha.

The command spokesman Haruna Mohammed in a statement said that the

one chance robbery suspects are Chiemezie Udoye, Chinenye Okonkwo Friday Nweze  and Chijioke Oforkalu

According to him, the Suspects are members of “One chance robbery syndicate ” terrorizing Onitsha and environs particularly at Upper Iweka and Housing Estates gate along Onitsha -Asaba Express way.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that suspects have been in the business of one chance robbery for long using white and yellow coloured Mitsubishi L300 Bus REG No XD 364 AGL also recovered to perpetrate the crime. They also robbed two ladies of their handsets and other valuables shortly before their arrest.

Also the special anti cult unit (SPACS) also carried carried out series of Raids on Criminal hideouts at various locations within the state  and 75 suspects were arrested. 25 suspects were screened out, 22 suspects were charged to court. 11 were placed under police supervision, while 17 others are under investigation.

He said that exhibits recovered includes, one bag containing dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp , three barretts, three improvised bunker for inhaling substances suspected to be cocain.
