CANDIDATE of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Imo West Senatorial Election in the just concluded general election,  Jones Onyeriri has accused Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja of bias in the judgement in which he ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue certificate of returns to Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to Journalists in Owerri, the Director General of Onyeriri Campaign Organisation, Mr. Eze Ugochukwu said  Onyeriri will appeal against the judgement.

He said that it was unfortunate that Justice Abang intimidated and harassed the defense lawyers and allowed the Plaintiff to have a field day as the proceeding  lasted.

He said that they were not surprised on the decision of the Abuja High Court 7 presided over by Justice Okon right from the start of the exparte application by Rochas Okorocha against the electoral umpire (INEC). According to him, the inevitability of the judgment for Rochas was obvious.

Mr. Eze also said that the handling of the case from the commencement left much to the desired, as revelation of obvious bias was not hidden, suspension and abridgement of rule of court, overt intimidation of defense lawyers and harassment of same, whereas the Plaintiff’s  lawyers were freely allowed.

“The truth of the matter was that the decision came from the court of first instance.  Therefore, the decision stands to be tested at the appellate courts while trial at the tribunal goes on”.
