Monarch charges community leaders on peace, security

TRADITIONAL ruler of Obosi community, Igwe Chidubem Iweka,  has called on the  newly inaugurated  executive members of Obosi Development Union and  elites in the town  to promote  peace and security  in the  community.

He made the call during the inauguration of the new executives held at Obosi town hall, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Igwe  Iweka III  said that security was the major challenge of Obosi community, calling on elites from the community to help restore peace and security in the town.

He urged Obosi residents involved in cultism, fraud, drug peddling  and other criminal activities  to desist from the act  or leave the town, saying that deviants would be dealt with. He advised them to embrace legitimate businesses.

Speaking, Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Anambra  State chapter, Dr. Emma Muonago  appealed to the elites from the town  to think home and attract projects  that would benefit the youths as a panacea to crime.

“Elites should look inwards and assist Obosi kingdom to surmount our security challenges. In fact, that is why I accepted the ‘Ichie’ stool of my village to contribute more. We need to partake in decision making, know how to engage our youths positively. I advise the youths especially land speculators to embrace education or craftsmanship,  Muonago said.

Resource persons Maj. Gen Emeka Maduegbuna (Rtd), Col Sam Agbanusi (Rtd), Prof, Victor Ndirika who spoke on security and community development, maintained that peace, security and development was every one’s business.

The outgone President General, Deacon Ikenna Madubosa urged  the royal father  and his cabinet to  embrace peace for the progress of the community.

In his acceptance speech, the new President General  Ikechukwu Okolo thanked the entire Obosi Ukwalla kingdom for choosing him as their leader.

He disclosed that he will focus on peace, security, development and youth empowerment, noting  that it was time to harmonize the even leadership and development of both Obosi inland and urban layouts.

The new Executives include: PG-  Ikechukwu Okolo, 1st VC-Joel Mgbemena, 2nd VC-Chukwudi Iwenofu, 3rd VC- Eneanya Obiechina, 4th VC- Maduka Ebuka, Secretary-Dr. Edwin Obi, Asst Sec-Onuigbo Christopher, Fin Sec-Kenneth Ichu.

Others were; Publicity Sec- Tony Arinze, Treasurer-Charles Nwakobi, Internal Auditor-Chinna Ibeto, 2nd Auditor-Ejiofor Chukwuebuka, Provost 1- Ivan Okafor, Provost II-Ikeokwu Uchenna, Provost III-Onwughalu Emeka, Legal Advisers-Chimezie Obi and  Iredu Emeka, Social Sec-Uche Uzowulu, Asst Soc Sec-Uche Gbughemobi.
