NIGERIAN Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) executive, Idemili South has paid a courtesy call to their new Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) Dr. Kingsley Ozodi, seeking his intervention on workers welfare.

The NULGE Chairman, Juliana Anyanwu eulogised the capabilities of the new HLGA who was a former labor leader thanking God for facilitating her appointment.

Comrade Anyanwu enumerated the plights of the workers ranging from payment of disturbance allowance for those transferred; claims; motivation; provision of toilets for staff; attitude of staff for weekly prayers and fringe benefits of deceased staff.

She pleaded with the HLGA to come to the rescue of the entire staff especially concerning outstanding financial debts, claims and benefits, saying that workers were passing through difficult times.

In his response, Dr. Ozodi assured the NULGE executives that he would go extra mile to pursue the interest of workers provided they promote the commission’s agenda of discipline and productivity.

“For the benefit of deceased staff, it is a combined effort between management and the Union. From your check off/ rebate you need to allocate fund which will be augmented by management”, Ozodi said.

Moreover, Ozodi introduced the Carrot and Stick approach of motivation, urging the union not to support erring workers but complement the effort of management to move the council forward.

“When management see that union is maintaining discipline and productive they will be out to encourage the union/ staff. In some L.G.As some people abandon office for business while some are even abroad”.

“I assure you that starting from claims, seminars as we work together in synergy, I will carry you people along at my very best”, Ozodi assured.
