ANAMBRA State Library Board has won the 2018 Best Public Library in Nigeria award.

The award was conferred by Nigeria Library Association (NLA) through a circular signed by its National Secretary, Mr. Atsenokhar Omoh.

Explaining the award as an annual honour by which NLA recognise any public library in Nigeria that has distinguished itself among others, in the area of facilities and service delivery, Omoh stated that he was issuing the circular on behalf of their National President, Mr. Umunna Opara.

According to him, Anambra Library Board was chosen in a report submitted by a five-man inspection panel that visited public libraries all over Nigeria in 2018, adding that the agency came top ahead of others especially for its outstanding contribution towards promotion of the profession in the state.

Omoh added that the award would be presented to the state in a plaque and certificate at a ceremony to be held on July 31, at Golden Tulip Hotel’s Conference Hall, Warri in Delta State.

Speaking to National Light, Chairman of Anambra Library Board, Nkechi Udeze dedicated the award to Gov. Willie Obiano for what she called his strategic partnership with state library through cutting edge investments it had lacked before, adding that it will improve reading culture in Anambra.

Udeze also stated that the award will spur her team to more hard work to ensure that Anambra Library does not only remain the best in Nigeria, but will also compete favourably with other library facilities around the globe.
