Man sells three-day-old baby for N150,000



A 27 year old man who identified himself as Chukwuma Enemuo has allegedly sold his newly born baby for N150,000 in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Govrnment Area of Anambra State.

The suspect, who was caught by his neighbour reportedly connived with a 45 year old man, Obi Chidubem, to sell his first child to one Anulika Okafor.

According to the report, the suspect, Chukwuma Enemuo told his wife that their three-days-old son died shortly after birth.

Speaking on this development, the Anambra State Public Relation Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident to newsmen, stating that the incident happened on Monday, leading to the arrest of the three suspects, adding that the baby has been recovered in good condition while the case was being investigated.

In his words, “the police detectives attached to Ozubulu Division arrested one Chukwuma Enemuo, aged 27 years of Okwutu Amakwa village, Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State. The suspects conspired with one Obi Chidubem, aged 45 years of Umuabuche Eziama village, Uli in Ihiala LGA and sold the three-day- old baby for the sum of N150, 000 to one Mrs. Anulika Okafor, aged 39 years of Uruokwe village, Ozubulu. All the three suspects have been arrested, the baby also recovered. The case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court.”
