IT was jubilation and tales of woe, Tuesday, when the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel sent a list of 22 state executive council members to  Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for approval.

The list, which contained about 100 percent of members that served in the governor’s first term has only Mr. Okpulupm Ette as the new person. He replaced former Commissioner of Agriculture and Food Sufficiency, Dr. Charles Udo Inyang, who was relieved of his appointment by the governor, few days to the end of his first term.

National Light gathered that the return of the former commissioners have generated mixed reactions from members of the public, especially the People’s Democratic Party members.

While supporters of the nominees were seen dancing and shouting on top of their voices, those who spent several nights around government house to lobby for appointments were said to be totally disappointed as they could not make the list.

One of the loyal supporters of the immediate past Commissioner for Works. Mr Ephraim Inyang Eyen, who gave his name simply as “Uduak” said that the return of Mr. inyang- Enyen is a reward for hard work he has displayed in carrying out the development plan of the governor and noted that with the return, most of the projects embarked upon by the governor would be completed before the end of his second term.

However, many supporters of the governor who worked hard to see his re-election have felt disappointed that some commissioners who have been there for too long should have given way for new persons.

They particularly noted that the former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Glory Edet, who has served for almost eight years in former Governor Godswill Akpabio should have not been there as according to them, there are more capable hands to man the ministry.
