Mrs Okwuedo laid to rest

THE remains of Late Mrs Rosemary Chizoba Okwuedo, nee Ezeoke (aka Diesel), has been laid to rest.

Her funeral started with a Vigil Mass at her fathers compound, Late Pius Ezeoke’s of Umugoma Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State which was officiated by two bishops, most Rev Jonas Beson Okoye (the auxiliary bishop of Awka Diocese ) and most Rev Peter Okpaleke ( Bishop emeritus of Ahiara)  and about 50 priests.

The  requiem mass was held at  St Anthony’s  Catholic Church, Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State after lying in state at her husbands compound the Okwuedo family

In his homily Rev Fr Benjamin Ewelu, Rector of Pope John Paul 11 Seminary, Okpuno, reminded Christians that there will be division on the judgment day between sheep and goats.

He explained that love is the key to make heaven. He said, “Endeavor to show God’s love which will torch your neighbor” .

He stressed the importance of charity and called on Christians to feed the hungry, cloth the naked , visit prisoners and so on, even as he quoted St Augustine who said “Love and do  whatever you wish”

After the mass, the late Mrs Okwudo was led with the Catholic Women Organization(C.W.O)  band of  the parish in a convoy to her grave at her husbands compound  where she was laid to rest by her brother priest, Rev. Fr Anthony Ezeoke  amid  tributes.

Fr Ezeoke referred to her late sister as an exceptionally  resourceful person who manifested an exceptional brilliance from a very  tender age.

On her own part, her daughter, Chioma Okwuedo, said that her mother had a soft, gentle  and tender  heart  and was a wife, mother and sister to everybody.

The funeral continued the next day as the prestigeous Ada-Uka Umugama Umuchu gave her a befitting respect where she was testified by many as a kind hearted personality whose love to humanity was beyond comparison.

Chizoba Rosemary Okwuedo (nee Ezeoke) was the gem of the home of Pius and Bernadette Ezeoke of Umugama Umuchu.

She studied  at Queen’s School, Enugu and Federal Polytechnic, Nekede. She worked for some years with Nigerian Immigration.

She died on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.
