Six more Anambra communities get N59m from CSDP-AF

SIX additional focal communities in Anambra State have started receiving Community and Social Development Project- Additional Financing (CSDP-AF) funds, totaling N59m for immediate implementation of different micro projects (MPs) approved for their various communities  by the agency.

The six benefitting communities are Oroma Etiti, Ebenebe, Awba-Ofemili, Mgbakwu, Ugbene and Igbakwu. The approved micro projects for the different communities are Construction of Feeder roads with Culverts, Construction of Corpers/Teachers Lodge, Construction of Boreholes, Construction/Installation of Solar Street lights, Construction of Market stores, Construction/Rehabilitation of Primary and Secondary Schools in the communities.

Project Launch activities were carried out by the State Agency (SA) in those various communities mentioned above from June 12th to June 14th this year during which Project Financing Agreements were signed between the SA and the communities with the 1st tranche (30% of the project funds) also released to the communities for project implementation by the agency. The General Manager, ANCSDA, Mr Chudi Mojekwu signed the Project Agreements on behalf of the State Agency while the Chairman of the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) signed on-behalf of the community.

At the project launch events in Awba Ofemili, Ugbene, Mgbakwu and Ebenebe all of which are in Awka North LGA; Igbakwu community in Ayamelum LGA, as well as Oroma Etiti in Anambra West LGA, the General Manager, Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA), Mr Chudi Mojekwu, commended the traditional rulers, town union leaders, members of the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) and entire community members present for the various roles they played during the socio-economic profiling of the community, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) to identify and prioritize the needs of the community and then the election of the CPMC members that would oversee the implementation of the MPs.

These efforts, he said, culminated in the approval of the sets of micro projects by the agency and the subsequent release of the first tranche of funds by ANCSDA at the various project launch events. He also commended the state governor, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano, for his giant strides in ensuring that CSDP-AF became effective in Anambra State.

Also speaking at the events, the Operations Manager, ANCSDA, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo, urged the CPMC members to ensure the effective and efficient utilization of the released funds for the project implementation, and also charged the community members to ensure that the MPs are properly managed and sustained after completion.

In their vote of thanks, the various CPMC Chairmen commended the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) for their various developmental interventions in poor communities that are geared towards poverty reduction and thereby touching lives positively in the rural communities. They expressed their joy at the release of the project funds which according to them, will be judiciously utilized in the implementation of the approved projects in their communities.
