Anambra trains clerical staff in civil service



AS PART of its commitment to bringing her public officers up to speed, a two-month intensive career enhancement course has commenced for over 70 clerical staff of Anambra State civil service.

The training which holds at Staff Development Center, Government House Awka is aimed at equipping beneficiaries with cutting edge work ethics that will prepare them to advancing beyond GL 09 which is currently their terminal rank .

The participants were drawn from different Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs) and Local Government Areas in Anambra State.

Declaring the training open, Head of Service, Harry Udu who represented Gov Willie Obiano disclosed that as the first of its kind in the state, Gov. Obiano approved the exercise in line with his policy of transformation of both civil service and workers in the State.

Udu also reminded the trainees of the importance of the course for their advancement in service, challenging them to maximise the opportunity.

Earlier in an opening remark, Director of Training in Office of the Head of Service, Dr. Nwando Obiano, described the exercise as a lifetime opportunity for beneficiaries, commending the governor for making it available.

In her own contribution, Ag. Director of Staff Development Centre, Mrs. Nnenna Onuorah, urged trainees to adhere strictly to rules and regulations of civil service if they hope to excel on their beats, especially during the training.

Mrs. Chinyere Nwankwo, Mrs. Nnenna Offordile, Mrs. Chika Okpala and Udeh Angelina are among participants that spoke to newsmen, describing the training as timely while praying God to reward Gov. Obiano for availing them with the opportunity.
