Woman murdered after police impounded her vehicle in Asaba

A MIDDLE aged woman, Ugochukwu Grace Dabo has reportedly been  murdered by a three -man armed robbery gang  operating on a tricycle at Igbiki Junction, Ovwian Aladja, after a police team impounded her vehicle for not producing vehicle particulars on request.

The woman was said to be driving home in the company of her 11yr old daughter Oghenenyerhovwo Dabo in her Toyota Sienna Space bus with registration No AGL 822 EY, when she was stopped by the police patrol team.

The police team was said to have demanded for the particulars of her vehicle but as the woman could not produce, they impounded the vehicle. The report stated further that the woman refused to go along with the policemen to the station and that at about 11pm, her husband,

Mr. Benjamin Dabo reported to the DPO at the station that, while the woman was on her way home with her daughter in a commercial tricycle they boarded, she was attacked, robbed and shot dead by a three -man  armed robbery gang operating with the tricycle unknowingly boarded by her and her daughter.

The daughter, who was lucky to survive the attack, narrated how her mother was killed by the robbers.

Confirming the report, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said the Commissioner of Police regretted the incident which he described as unfortunate and commiserated with her family.

He assured members of the public and in particular the immediate family of the deceased of the commitments of the police to thoroughly investigate the role played by the police in the incident and to ensure the arrest of the fleeing armed robbers.
