Anambra celebrates Int’l Youth Day

IN line with United Nation’s declaration of celebrating August 12 of every year as International Youth Day, the Anambra State Government ,under the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy is organizing a mass rally and exhibition of innovative products for youths trained in technovative skills, as well as those in agriculture.

This was stated in a release signed by Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Afam Mbanefo, who noted that the day was set when organizations, governments, families and indeed the entire world focus on the youth and give them attention through special programmes which address their needs, rights, obligations and interests.

The commissioner said that the event with the theme, “Transforming Education”would take place at Alex Ekwueme Square on Monday, August, 12 by 10am while Governor Willie Obiano will address the youths on the event.

All uniformed and non-uniformed youth organisations, youth representatives of the various communities and local government areas, NYCN, and NYSC members are expected to be part of the mass rally.

Similarly, Development Centre for Orientation, Discovery and Empowerment (DECODE) has explained that the theme “Transforming Education” has been localised by Nigeria Youth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to “Amplifying Youth Voices for the SDGs.”

to achieve through promotion of lifelong learning opportunities and entrepreneurship, skill exhibition and empowerment, promoting and facilitating development programmes, instrument, support services and appropriate technology that will enhance live hoods, job creation and poverty reduction (embedded in SDGs (1,2,4,8,9,16,&17).
