Osinbajo’s wife in Anambra for Mothers’ Summit

Outstanding women to be honoured

WIFE of the Vice  President of Nigeria, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, will attend the 2019 Anambra Mothers’ Summit scheduled to hold at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, tomorrow.

Mrs. Osinbajo is expected to lead a high-powered delegation of distinguished women from different fields of endeavours that will converge in Anambra to identify with Wife of Anambra State Governor and Founder of Caring Family Enhancement (CAFÉ), Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano’s women development and empowerment initiatives.

A release issued to newsmen in Awka, yesterday, stated that  Anambra women from all walks of life will also grace the summit which marks the beginning of the annual August conference of Anambra women in all towns, adding that Gov. Obiano’s wife has put every machinery in place to ensure that many indigent ndi Anambra, particularly women and mothers, will benefit immensely from the one-day event.

According to the release, resource persons will be on hand to take women through some skill acquisition sessions from which they will learn  modern ways of farming, home management, textile dying, soap making and cosmetology, among others. Deserving participants will also receive some empowerment grants.

A display of handmade products and crops from their farms after a match-past by women from all the 21 Local Governments Areas in Anambra State will also add glamour to the summit.

Highlight of the occasion will be conferment of awards to select Anambra women of exceptional and excellent achievements in various fields.

The statement also quotes Mrs. Obiano as describing the Mothers’ Summit as an event that has evolved over time to become a veritable platform for exchange of ideas and celebration of the woman.

“We have done it for over four years now and I think it fitting to have an exemplary mother and wife of the Vice President joining us to brainstorm and recognise our hard working daughters and achievers.

I am very proud of our women who toil every day to ensure that our future is secure. If you look around every sector you will find a proud Anambra daughter excelling.

We therefore decided to start the process of recognising them as a way of appreciation and encouraging budding ones to aspire and excel. Moreover, we will also empower various women groups,” the statement reads.
