Anambra Govt swears-in first female Chief Judge

ANAMBRA State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has sworn in Honourable Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu as substantive Chief Judge of the state.

The ceremony, which took place at the Government House, Awka, during the State Executive Council meeting puts Justice Onwuamaegbu as the first female Chief Judge of Anambra State.

Governor Obiano stressed that his administration is gender sensitive in appointments and described  Onwuamaegbu as one that distinguished herself in the legal profession  and tasked her  to discharge her duty without fear or favor.

The governor assured that he will continue to work hand in hand with her to ensure smooth justice delivery in the state and explained that the state is working to procure modern equipment for the state’s chief judges for express and seamless dispensation of justice delivery.

The governor also said that the state was working to condense Anambra State laws into E-copy format for easier access.

While expressing gratitude, Justice Onwuamaegbu, pledged that judges in the state will continue to work in harmony with the governor.

Earlier, the Chief Registrar, Chinyere Ossy-Okoye stressed that the accolade is well deserving of her, as she met all constitutional conditions, saying that she was duly recommended by the NJC and confirmed by Anambra State House of Assembly.

Members of the State Excecutive Coumcil and members of the National Judicial Council witnessed the epoch making event.
