ALL is set for disbursement of community development funds to benefitting towns and villages in Anambra State.

The disbursement, which will be facilitated by Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ASCSDA) is coming under a specialised World Bank-assisted development programme, with some communities in Anambra East, Anambra West, Awka North, Awka South and Dunukofia LGAs as its pilot beneficiaries.

General Manager of ASCSDA, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu, disclosed this in Awka yesterday while speaking to newsmen after a two-day training for Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) and its sub-committee members from designated council areas.

Mojekwu stated that disbursement of funds will commence Monday next week, explaining that these funds are purely for execution of approved micro projects already charted into Community Development Plans (CDPs) or Group Development Plans (GDPs) submitted by benefitting communities.

According to him, approval letters from World Bank will be given to the communities, adding that 30 percent of total cost of project execution will be released in the first tranche.

Mojekwu also lauded Enugwu-Aguleri in Anambra East.

LGA for having taken home the message by constructing a town hall where all segments of society can sit together and deliberate on community issues – unlike previously when there was discrimination along gender and other lines.

Also speaking, Operations Manager of CSDA, Mrs. Uche Nwizugbo urged the participants to put physically challenged persons in higher consideration while executing projects in their communities.
